This isolated small beach lodge has only seven chalets and a small camp site is just north of Inhambane. Ngulane lodge is for those who want to escape from the rest of the world and relax to the sound of the waves and stroll the long sandy beaches.
The rooms have solar heating for the showers, Generator power from 6am to 10pm morning and evening. All the rooms then have oil lamps for after hours, we burn citronella oil which then also helps for mozzies.
We normally have people bring food and the staff prepare meals which are served at the communal restaurant . No dishes, more holiday time for the ladies!
The camp site consists of ten sites and has a communal ablution block with toilets, showers and hot water as well as washing facilities.
There are shops and markets in Maxixe which is 50 kms to the south and in Messinga which is 20kms to the North.
One can catch a ferry from Maxixe across the bay to Inhambane for the day.
One can fish and catch 'Meti-fish', the local currency is Metical. The local fisherman are very keen to sell their daily catch and crayfish are also often available.
The rate is mostly in our favour, exchanging currency with street currency traders is best avoided because of trickery.
The good news is one can draw Metical with one's own ATM card at most of the local ATM's, FNB is now also very visible.
The local bread is Awesome, stick to the old fashioned long rolls and not South Africanized versions.
Fruit is often in season and tastes great totally natural and unprocessed.
